Mission
Purpose
Mission Ministry is a fulfillment of our belief that God intends every person to participate in His mission through active outreach and service to each other. In response to His love to meet human needs, caring for the sick, homeless, hungry and disadvantaged, our ministry has multiple opportunities for individuals to serve our community, both locally and globally through service hours and financial support.
Mission Outreach Legacy
Christ the King has a rich tradition of outreach and mission support throughout our 50 years of existence. Time, talent and gifts given to those in need have exemplified our values of connecting in community and faith. Our focus has been to aid the hungry and the homeless and enriching our spiritual connections with our extended family in Masisiwe Tanzania. We invite you to join us in feeding the hungry spirit through our annual and on-going ministries!
Family Shelter & EMWC
On the fourth Tuesday of every month, members of our congregation prepare and serve the evening meal to 40 to 50 men, women and children in residence at the Ramsey County Family Shelter. Additionally, CTK supports East Metro Women's Council transitional housing residents through clothing drives, serving meals periodically and money donations. Habitat For Humanity
As part of the ecumenical group, the Holy Hammers, striving to reduce homelessness, Christ the King volunteers contribute 40 plus person-days annually to the construction of a new or remodeled house. In addition, Christ the King volunteers supply and serve lunch for 3 days during the construction project and raise over $3,500 for the cost of the homes.

Second Harvest
On the third Tuesday of each month, 10 to 12 volunteers help fight hunger by repacking boxes of surplus food for distribution at the Second Harvest Heartland food bank in Maplewood. For more information on Second Harvest Heartland, please visit http://www.2harvest.org.
Bread Ministry
On Saturday mornings, volunteers pick up unsold bakery items at Cub Foods and make them available to individuals and families in the White Bear community. People in need may pick up the bread between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Christ the King church north entrance.
White Bear Food Shelf
Christ the King is an active supporter of White Bear Area Food Shelf through donations of food and money collected during Spring and Fall drives and special events such as Root Beer Float Sunday. For more information on White Bear Food Shelf, please visit http://whitebearlakefoodshelf.org
Fair Trade/ Coffee Project
This non-profit service offers coffee, tea, cocoa and more, at cost, for sale on the first Sunday of each month following our worship services. Fair Trade buys directly from farmers in Africa and Latin America with proceeds sent directly to them eliminating most of the “middlemen” and increasing their share.
Angel Tree
CTK rejoined the Angel Tree program in 2010 connecting children with their parent in prison through gifts and messages of God’s love. Presents given by CTK members along with personal notes and cookies are delivered to children during the week of Christmas. Bega Kwa Bega Companion Congregation, Masisiwe, Tanzania
Christ the King is partnered with the Masisiwe congregation in Tanzania through the Bega Kwa Bega program fostered and supported through St Paul Area Synod and Iringa Diocese in Tanzania. The companion congregation program focuses on a mutual ministry of spiritual support and cultural exchange through prayer, communication, student sponsorship, exchange visits and financial support.
Prayer- Christ the King members individually and through worship join in prayer for each other and our ministries.
Communication- Relationship building between Masisiwe and CTK is fostered by exchange of email, letters and photographs.
Student Sponsorship- Individuals and groups at CTK sponsor students from Masisiwe congregation through tuition payment for secondary and post-secondary education .
Exchange visits- Building unity in mission and fostering cultural understanding, five ambassadors from Christ the King visited the Masisiwe main church and the outlying 4 preaching points as well as their district secondary schools, Bomala n'gombe and Pommern in 2007. Future trips are in discussion.
Financial support- CTK pledges $1,000 annually to help our Masisiwe partner fulfill their congregation action plan which has included the purchase of roofing and building materials for their churches and parsonage, a motorcycle and five bicycles for the pastor and evangelists, drilling of a well, and support of women's cottage industry.
